The Adventures Of The Silver Spaceman ‘Sun Songs’ Release Party at Cake Shop

It’s really too hard to accurately describe a night like the one that occurred last Friday in the basement of Cake Shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. It was the kind of night that in thinking about it, I become one of those weirdos who obnoxiously smiles to themselves on the subway. The kind of beautiful that gets me choked up, revealing the gushy center beneath my tough, protective exterior. (And I worked hard to grow that barrier!) There was so much love in that basement that the potency of the air tingled from the ecstatic outpour, so much so that the energy flowed over into the days that followed for many of those who attended. I’ve already said too much. Let’s start again…

The night of Friday, December 12th marked the culmination of Zachary J. Ellis’ hard work and artistic dedication for the release of The Adventures Of The Silver Spaceman’s full-length LP Sun Songs.

Accompanying TAOTSS on the bill were friends Slop Wop & Sir KN8, Landmarks, and Breakfast In Fur, and joining Ellis on stage were Sam Yield (Haybaby, Piers, Sam Yield) on bass and Chris Abbadessa (Steer, Altar Boy) on drums (TAOTSS’s current line up) as well as Dave Susman (The Bean) on guitar, with special appearances from Leslie Hong (Haybaby), Kenny Wang & Fred Krai for the song “Zierra” and Nathan Oglesby (Sir KN8) & Michael Buss for “Free Jazz.” Keeping the joy flowing into this week, Sir KN8 premiered two singles off his upcoming album, Quantum Electro Flavor Dynamics, just yesterday with us on Pretext and Breakfast In Fur’s video for “Shape” premiered Monday on Wondering Sound. I guess Christmas just came early this year. (Don’t worry, I’m rolling my eyes at myself for that statement.)
