Celebrating the return of Summer (has it already been a year?), NYC-based surf rock bandmates Jessica Louise Dye (vocals/guitar), Jono (drums), Jeremy (bass), and Steven (guitar/vocals) soaked up the sunshine during their rooftop set in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Much like the ramblings of a jacked-up, ethanol sniffing, acid-soaked Hunter S. Thompson, High Waisted produced similar vicarious effects. Dye’s vocals dripped like hot honey as she swooned and hollered amidst a sea of surf-pop beats tinged by the occasional belts of grungy guitar, only to be elevated by a warm Summer breeze. And just like all good psychobilly, the instrumental jamming lingered well past the traditional three and half minute mark. Get your next High Waisted fix July 3rd at Baby’s All Right and July 12th at Rough Trade.
