Steamy Night with TAOTSS & Western Medication at Shea Stadium
Shea Stadium was hot, like steamy, drippy, just-stand-their-and-submit-to-spiritual-bliss hot. But the humidity didn’t seem to effect The Adventures of the Silver Spaceman or Western Medication, whose sets surprisingly complimented the meditative climate.
The Adventures of the Silver Spaceman performing with a slimmed-down crew, Zacharay J. Ellis (vocals/guitar), Sam Yield (bass), Chris Abbadessa (drums/vocals) still impressed us with their booming folk-punk, especially in “Breath of Fire,” which I never before had the pleasure of hearing.
Post-punk Nashville trio Western Medication performed an energetic set of jangly almost Durango-like hard hitting punk tunes (ahhhh! “Western” Medication… I see now, maybe?). Having never seen or heard them before and arriving with no expectations, their set left me happy like getting a complimentary desert at a fancy restaurant. You too can get your treat on by listening to their full demo here.
